Hi people!
I got the inspiration for this post on Sunday, October 2, when thousands of people across the country stood on the edge of streets, highways, and interstates. They were holding signs, praying, talking, all as a movement against abortion.
I was one of them.
Some people think children are optional; if they don't want children, they can get rid of them. Sorry, but… I don't agree. The Bible says, and I quote: "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward." ~Psalm 127:3
Kids are special, people! I mean, seriously, a heritage from the Lord. I'll just have to remind my mom about that when she gets mad. B-) (Love ya Mom! XD)

Now, this post isn't just about abortion, although that's something specific that I'm using as an example. This post is about doing something about it. Will we hide under the blankets until we die?
I'll admit, I haven't done much about it. But when given the opportunity to join other people in this Life Chain, I couldn't let it pass. So now I'd like to ask a question:
Even though many of us don't know what to do, if you're given the opportunity to do some little thing, will you pass it up?
Let's take a look at what God has to say, shall we?
"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." ~Matthew 18:20
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." ~Matthew 28:19, 20
"I charge you therefore, before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, Who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing: preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and teaching." ~2 Timothy 4:1, 2
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of Truth." ~2 Timothy 2:15
"Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God." ~2 Corinthians 5:20
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." ~Ephesians 2:10

Rebekah wrote an amazing poem about abortion that you should check out if you haven't read it before!
Also, Faith did an awesome post similar to this one (promise, Faith, I didn't steal your idea! ;)) that you should also read.

And lastly, I'd like to share a song. Although there's lots of songs I could mention, this one hits me every time I hear it. There's one line in it that says how, even though we may think that God isn't doing anything about any of the wrongness in this world, He did; He created us! So let me ask again: given the opportunity to do something, will we let it pass? This is easier said than done, I realize, but hopefully it won't keep us from doing what God calls us to do.
What are your thoughts, people? I'd love to have some input!

This post. Wowsers, girl, I love it. Ministry, spreading the Gospel, evangelizing, discipling young Christians (as well as BEING discipled by older Christians), and being a light shining for Christ are all subjects that have been on my heart a lot lately. I haven't did it enough – I know that. I sincerely want to do better. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Kaitlyn! Ahh, yes, I love that song. ^_^ And thank you bushels for linking to me!!
Thanks so much, Faith! Yes, all of those things are important aspects of being a follower of Christ.

AWESOME KAITLYN!! Ah, gosh, this message, those Scriptures, what you're saying... amen. This is so profound and moving.... Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWe can do nothing without God- but God said, if we have faith like a mustard seed, then we can move mountains! Yahweh can use each of us, but we must be ready to follow HIM!
YHVH bless.

Thank you so much, Angela! I just wrote what I felt God telling me.
ReplyDeleteYes, faith like a mustard seed. Even that's easier said than done. But with God's help, it can be done.
