The Rising Authors Tag!

Hi people!
Well, I'm back with another tag again.  But this time it's the Rising Authors Tag! :D
I was tagged by Faith at Stories by Firefly.  Thank you so much, Faith!! :D

Rules:
-Thank the person who tagged you
-At the end of the post, provide 11 new questions
-Request a brief 150-word story from the people you tagged
-Tag at least one person, and include a link to their blog

And now, on to the questions!

What's your favorite writing style?
Hmm… probably 3rd-person.  And some 1st person.

Where's do you usually sit to write?
Anywhere; the dining room, schoolroom, kitchen, etc; I'm not picky.  I'm currently on the patio. :D

If you write for long periods of time, does it bother your fingers/wrists/hands?
UGH, yes.  Mostly my wrists, but my hands get writer's cramp too.  Which really doesn't help at all with school. ;)

Do you snack while you write? If so, what's your favorite snack?
Every once in awhile.  But when I do, I just LOVE Cheese-It's and Mediterranean Herb Pita crackers.  (Yes people, I am VERY specific.) ;)

Are you published? If so, best publishing advice you've received? If not, do you want to be?
Nope.  And… I don't really know.  I think it would be fun to be published, but… it's not a priority.

Writing/publishing wise, where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years?
Umm… I really have no idea. ;P  Maybe still just sharing my stories with my friends?  Or maybe even posting them… ;)

Do you listen to music while you write?
Not often.  I get distracted REALLY easily.

What's your opinion of editing?
Well, I know several people who would say, "I HATE it!!", but I really can't say as I dislike it that much.  Of course, I haven't really edited enough to be sure. :P

Do you enjoy research?
Yes, I do; at least, when it comes to writing.  For school, not so much. ;P

Do you fiddle with the font style and size of your works?
Nope.  Maybe the title, but… I've never tried it with everything else.

And lastly, what's your thoughts on writerly tags? B-)
I love them.  That's all there is to it. B-)

150-word story-snippet request: Can I see a piece of your writing?
Absolutely! :D  This is an excerpt from a story I wrote called Katie's War:

Mom looked up in surprise.  “Katie, I thought you were doing homework in your room.”
“I finished it.  Now, what does the telegram say?”
Mom slowly opened the telegram, unfolded the paper inside, and her face blanched.  “I-I have to sit down,” she said faintly.
Katie’s eyes widened with fright.  Something’s happened.  Dad or Jerry are dead.  Oh, God, please, no, no!  She squeezed her eyes shut to keep the tears in, placing her hand on the back of her mother’s chair.  “Shall I get Joey?”
Mom nodded absently.  “I believe he’s in the backyard studying.”
Katie walked quickly through the house and opened the backdoor.  “Joey,” she called.
Josiah looked up with a smile that quickly vanished at the look on Katie’s face.  “What’s wrong, Kate?”
Katie bit her lip and swallowed hard.  “We... just got a telegram.  Mom didn’t tell me what it says, but Joey, a telegram

Well, it's actually 151 words.  But it'll do.  I hope. ;)

Now for the tagging! :D  I tag

And now for your questions!

What's your favorite genre to write?
Do you listen to music while you write?
Do you enjoy snacking while writing?
Do you enjoy editing?
Where's your favorite place to write?
Do you enjoy torturing your characters?
Do you often kill your favorite characters?
Are you published?  If not, do you hope to be sometime in the future?
Do you prefer writing by hand or typing on the computer?
Do you prefer writing or reading?
And lastly, would you please give us a 150-word excerpt from one of your stories? :D

Once again, thank you Faith for tagging me! :D

The 3-Day Quote Tag--Day 1

Hi people!
'Way back in May, Lauren did the 3-day Quote Tag on her blog and said that anyone who wanted to do the tag to consider themselves tagged.  So I'm going to take her up on that offer, now that I've got a blog. ;)

The Rules:
-Thank the person who nominated you (Thanks, Lauren!)
-Nominate 3 new bloggers every day
-Post a new quote every day for 3 consecutive days

I Nominate:

I think all of these people have done it before, but that was months ago and 'most everyone said that there were too many good quotes to do just one a day; so, I'll nominate them again.  I think they will be able to find some more. ;)

My Quote:

This is SUCH a true statement!!!  Sorry to all you people who don't care a hoot about yarn; how 'bout this instead?

THIS is also incredibly true.
Which also brings me to this quote:

Yes.  Not enough shelves.  Exactly.

Well, I ended up doing 3 quotes today instead of just 1, but oh well. ;P  They're all great.
See y'all tomorrow!!

Baby Calves

Hi people!
Who doesn't love baby animals?  Well, the answer isn't me.  They're. So. CUTE.
Anyway.
The only baby animals on the farm right now are calves.  So, how 'bout some pictures of the adorable little guys? :D

Aren't they just so… cute??

Trampas
Trampas was my sister's, and so is Danny, this little guy:

I can't say for sure which of Kordell's is which, as a lot of them look similar.  But he graciously agreed to show me which is which. :)

Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer

Whitley Merrifield (Sorry Bethany, Kordell's were named after Royals players)

Cheslor Cuthbert

Lorenzo Cain

Salvador Perez (AKA Salvy)
Luke Hochevar

Wade Davis

If you've ever been around calves, you know how slobbery they are; if you won't let them suck on your hand...

They'll suck on your jeans, shirt, etc.

And if they can't give you a spit bath, they'll do it to the fence, or each other.

Don't let the teeth scare ya; their tongue covers them. :)

Fun trivia facts:
-Cattle don't have top teeth in the front; only bottom.
-Cattle have four stomachs.  After entering the 1st stomach, the food is belched up to be chewed again, then swallowed and sent to the 2nd stomach, and so on and so forth.

These little guys are fed milk replacer with bottles or buckets until they're old enough to eat hay and grain.

Sometimes it takes them awhile to actually figure out that the milk inside the bucket is what they should be drinking ;)
Annnnnnd… that wraps up this post!  So tell me, which do you think was the cutest? :)
Thanks for stopping by!
